Job Description & Responsibilities:

Our client is a highly regarded cruise company which maintains its early traditions of exceptional quality and attention to personal detail. With a clear market strategy it caters to a defined segment and which continues to grow both in terms of repeat customers as well as new to the cruise community. In partnership with our client, HIH is looking for a suitably experienced and energetic Cruise Director with familiarity in the more exclusive part of the cruise market. The initial routes will mainly be throughout the Caribbean area, and coupled with an attractive salary and benefits package this will be a very exciting opportunity for the successful candidate.

Working with and reporting to the Hotel Director you are responsible for ensuring guests are entertained and engaged both onboard and ashore with a well-structured program of events, excursions, tours and other ad hoc initiatives.You will naturally have an outgoing personality and take genuine satisfaction in seeing your guests enjoying themselves and getting the most from their cruise experience. You will have experience in managing a diverse range of team members, ensuring superior guest satisfaction and enjoyment through optimum use of talent and resources available.

Further role specifics and responsibilities are given below;

  • Responsible for the scheduling and implementation of all the entertainment, recreational and social activities, in line with clientele and company brand values
  • Ensures all members of your team carry out their duties in and upholds their responsibilities in the correct manner and that they conduct themselves appropriately at all times
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with your senior colleagues and other HOD’s to ensure that department activities are coordinated
  • Monitors team and individual performance and suggests training and development where necessary
  • Manages conflict resolution with the minimum of impact to the department function and ultimately guest experience
  • Works with onboard HR manager to implement any disciplinary measures where required
  • Interacts with guests in a friendly and engaging manner and is available to address any queries or concerns they may have
  • Help to promote further revenue streams through appropriate announcements, and information bulletins advising guests about onboard shopping outlets, etc.
  • Perform Master of Ceremonies duties
  • Working with guest speakers and performers during selected voyages ensuring their well-being and privacy is maintained according to the specific situation 
Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a hospitality related discipline is preferred
  • 8 Years’ experience in hospitality, entertainment, animation activities with minimum 2 years serving in senior capacity onboard luxury cruise vessels
  • Experience in planning and implementing departmental budgets
  • Outgoing, energetic personality prepared to work non regular, demanding hours
  • Ability to remain upbeat even in the most demanding of situations
  • Experience in performing in stage productions is required
  • Experience in working with ‘celebrity’ artists and managing their expectations in a shipboard environment
  • Detailed oriented complimented by excellent time management and coordination skills
  • Fluent command of English language both written and spoken
  • Additional language usage would be advantageous
